Christine Georges

Nuclear Energy Directorate - Decommissioning Division, Head of international development, French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA)

Christine GEORGES graduated in France from Nancy school for Chemical industries and in USA from Connecticut University. From 1984, She contributed to French major investments all over fuel cycle back-end, first in La Hague as responsible for process of UP3 Plutonium polishing facility, then in Melox MOX plant as deputy head of the waste management facility and in Marcoule as project manager of various investments for liquid effluents treatment and preparation for shut-down of UP1 reprocessing plant.
From 1999, she was the first Program manager for the Decommissioning of UP1 reprocessing plant in Marcoule. She also contributed to the new distribution of responsibilities of French operators EDF, Areva and CEA in Decommissioning activities of front end and back end sites (La Hague, Marcoule, Cadarache and Pierrelatte).
After a break from Decommissioning as vice president of TNI for transportation of MOX and Plutonium in France and abroad, she joined the nuclear division of CEA in 2010, as Head of the Department for CEA Decommissioning programs on 5 sites (Marcoule, Cadarache, Grenoble, Saclay, Fontenay aux Roses). She was then in charge of R&D for Decommissioning and associated waste in 2013 and she is now working at the headquarter of the new directorate dedicated to Decommissioning of CEA civilian sites, as head of prospective and international development.
She is also the French representative in the field of Decommissioning at IAEA IDN steering committee and CEA representative at NEA, as deputy head at the Management board of the CPD (Cooperative Program on Decommissioning) and part of the new committee CDLM.
