Fukushima Prefecture Futaba Future High School student
Fukushima Prefecture Futaba Future High School was established in April 2015. The goal is set to foster “change agents” capable of overcoming the myriad difficulties encountered in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear accident and taking a role in the creation of a sustainable new society.
The school was designated as a national program, “Super Global High School (SGH)” when the school opened. The program promotes independent, interactive deep learning (active learning) centered on problem-solving classes, and all students practice exploratory activities that seek to address local problems.
In April 2019 a junior high school was also established as an annex, and a new school building was completed simultaneously as well. The school building is equipped with original facilities such as a cafe, community collaboration space, and theater, which have accelerated cooperative efforts with the local community.
